Enjoy my interview with Brendan:

What inspired you to write this book?

I’ve always wanted to leave a lasting impression with everyone I meet. Many of my favourite authors and role models have lived extraordinary lives, all with important lessons and stories to share. They’ve made an incredible impact on the way I live and the way I think after reading from their books. Their messages remain timeless, forever engraved in a book. Over the last several years with the knowledge and experiences I’ve accumulated, I felt the time was imperative to share my findings and message in order for me to continue to fulfill my inspiration in life—and that is to impart what I have learned and help as many people as I can. This book is now my biggest asset to give what I can teach.

What do you want others to gain from your book?

I want every reader to gain some new insight and add it to their day-to-day life. Even if someone is well-versed in self-help and self-development, I feel this book will at least reiterate and keep them on the path to an empowered life. Everyone can benefit from my lessons in #30daychallenge because I focus a complete spectrum, body, mind, and spirit. My truest goal is to inspire all readers to take more charge of their life and continue to expand on one or all aspects of what I cover in my book. Like Malcom Gladwell’s novel titled the Tipping Point, I want to be someone’s tipping point into new found healthy lifestyle.

What was your creative process for this project?

Basically, over the last five years, and countless 30-day challenges, I’ve continued to expand on my programs, giving empowering information and support to all my clients. The resources and material I’ve gathered and developed have been categorized and catalogued into various folders and files. There have been so many times where I’ve been able to cross-reference or search for an article or piece of information to help get my message across to a client and teach them something even deeper at the same time. This is where I feel I separate myself from so many other coaches. Anyone can instruct another, telling them what to do. My purpose is to advise my clients to achieve a certain objective with a supporting lesson and knowledge behind the suggestion, in order for them to understand the “why” behind the message.

My creative process has and will always be rooted in my desire to share my message just as I would say it to a client or friend, with passion and honesty.

Why did you choose the story-telling format you used?

I chose to write in this format because I want the reader to be able to link the words they read to how I speak. Each word in the book is exactly how I choose my words when I communicate. I’m no English expert, however, I take still take pride in my vocabulary and delivery. I have been told by individuals that I can be a little over-the-top in my delivery at times, and I take that as a compliment. It just shows my authentic passion and my burning desire to teach and share what I have learned. I wanted my book to be an easy and informative read.

What’s next for you as an author?

What isn’t next? I have just over two more years of schooling until I earn my Doctorates of Science in Clinical Nutrition degree. I continue to work out every day and train for upcoming bodybuilding shows. In addition to my schooling, I love learning about finance, physiology, human behaviour, and many other facets of our life, in order for me to further develop and enrich myself and then teach and empower others with the knowledge and wisdom I gain.

It’s been a pleasure working with Brendan to bring his first book to life. Don’t let the condensed number of pages fool you. #30daychallenge is brimming with encouragement, great insights, and expertise. At the same time, it makes positive healthy change palatable, and keeps the door open for you to dig a little deeper and learn more when you’re ready.

I anticipate that this is just the beginning for Brendan Coates, and our team at I C Publishing wish him very well in his future endeavours. Be sure to visit the I C Bookstore to get your copy.
