Hearts Linked by Courage by Alzheimer Society of York Region represents a thoughtful and diverse compilation from a variety of generous contributors, reminding us that this disease knows no boundaries. To a large degree, anyone can be affected, and the road is often long and arduous on many fronts. I believe by continuing to educate ourselves and engage in caring conversations about a disease that affects so many, we can help to shift the narrative. Those who are living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias are so much more than their disease.
With more than half a century in the field of archaeology, scholar and author of a multitude of industry papers, articles, studies, and books including Our Land Speaks series of now five volumes and growing, Bill Finlayson is the senior-most archaeologist in Ontario. The sacredness of his work and his humble, yet passionate, approach to it is undeniable, and nowhere more so than in this landmark study, “The Draper Site, an Ontario Woodland Tradition Frontier Coalescent Village in Southern Ontario, Canada: Looking Back, Moving Forward.” Now available exclusively through I C Publishing.
Chai Harjo’s second book is a refreshing read and will leave you feeling truly positive and encouraged to stay the course on your own goals. In this blog, not only do you get a glimpse into the preface and Chai’s inspiration behind the book, “Down-to-Earth Canadian Real Estate Success,” you also get a sneak peek at what he’s working on next and how he pivots during COVID-19. It’s a two-parter we decided to keep as one post. We hope you enjoy.
Author Sue Lantz brings so much to her first solo book. In addition to her obvious professional expertise, Sue’s passion and remarkable attention to detail jumps off every page. It is evident, and fortunate for the reader, that Sue has done the research and legwork to support everything she serves up in Options Open – The Guide for Mapping Your Best Aging Journey, so one can be confident in taking her thoughtful guidance. As Sue shares, investing time and energy now to explore your options expands your choices later.
Our Lingering Farewell is a story deeply rooted in selfless devotion and the best of humanity. I am often humbled by the work we do at I C Publishing and that could not be truer partnering with a wise, experienced, and thoughtful individual such as Dr. Allan Carswell. Bringing Helen Carswell’s twenty-year journey with Alzheimer’s disease to the pages of this poignant narrative has been an honour. Allan had three noble goals to achieve: acknowledge Helen’s beautiful, vibrant spirit and generosity throughout her entire lifetime, encourage others on this challenging path, and continue to raise awareness and actively support the Toronto Memory Program and Alzheimer Societies of Toronto and York Region.
